Some new shots with my Rolleicord V
As you may remember, I made a big deal of purchasing a Rolleicord TLR camera late last year. Even though I’m typically not such a gear oriented photographer, I’d like to now continue hyping this camera and share some of my recent shots made with it.
It is now springtime and there was an uneventful winter in between. This is the time of the year when photographers emerge from their caves once again. I too woke up from my photographic slumber and slowly started to gain shooting momentum again.
As many photographers, especially film shooters, we tend to go through a lot of cameras. Film photography is one those endeavours that will very easily turn into a camera collecting hobby too. I’ve also had my fair share of cameras, but most of them just come and go. I usually have just few cameras that I hold on to and the rest are ones that I own very briefly before swapping them for something else. Rolleicord definitely is a keeper and maybe a bit more than that. I really haven’t been shooting with any other camera that much these days. When I go out to shoot, I really just want to take the Cord.
It might sound counter intuitive, but Rolleicord is like a point and shoot camera for me. I’m not shooting a project with it, but just some random stuff that one tends to encounter while going about. Even though I enjoy shooting with it very much, I don’t have a grand purpose for it. I just like taking it along on while running some errands, on bike rides or just on walks with my dog. It’s a nice every day carry for the daily randoms.
I spotted this old Mini while on a bike ride. I’ve been actually eyeballing this car for a while, but eventually I had to stop for a quick snap. Notice the Kiss and Nirvana logos drawn to the dirty windows.
This is from last october, but it pairs up so nicely with the Mini shot, that I wanted to showcase it too. Not only visually a good match, but the band thematics continue nicely too, as this car has the Misfits skull painted on the side of it. Nice little detail.
Another example of my earlier car detail shots, that will go nicely together with some of the new ones.
Some ocean shore details.
My dog enoying a brisk spring morning.
Another one of my dogs enjoying the spring vibes.
This one was shot on Kodak Gold 200, which cups and curls a lot when drying. I find it much harder to scan, as it tends to curl out from the negative holder. I decided to tape it straight to the scanner glass, enabling me to also include the negative borders for some nice black frames.
Ektar lays nice and flat but I decided to try the same method just for the sake of it.
Another one of those semi abandoned cars spotted on a bike ride.
And as a special featurette, I also made a short video, if you care to take a look.
